Not only do we offer the rooms full traditional English breakfast, there is always an alternative for you; ask us about our popular Italian breakfast or Scottish breakfast, a real treat! Try eggs Benedict, Arlington or Florentine, and Madeira kidneys are a true extravance for breakfast. For non meat eaters, home made smoked haddock fish cake served with perfectly poached egg, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, poached smoked haddock and poached eggs, home made waffles, pancakes or French toast, porridge, in fact whatever you want, we are happy to prepare it for you.
We also offer locally produced jams and marmalade’s, fresh orange juice and home made smoothies, a choice of cereals, and a variety of toasts. We have many different teas, and you can choose fresh filter coffee or if you prefer, why not try an espresso, cappuccino or latte?
If you are staying with us at the weekend or Bank Holidays, we offer champagne breakfast, why not treat yourself to a buck’s fizz? We also serve hot freshly baked pastries, and if you are lucky enough to be at the rooms when the sun is shining, we are happy to serve your breakfast in our beautiful walled garden.
Our bread comes from Phil’s bakery, just a short walk away, and is freshly prepared on his premises every day.
Sausages come from Clarkes butchers, literally across the road, they are his Irish sausages, and we had great fun during the taste tests as he must have 50 variety’s, we just had to try them all. This one was the clear winner for a breakfast sausage!
Eggs are free range and freshly lay by Janet’s hens and hens at Fox Lane Ends Farm farm.
Our Bacon is ‘black bacon’, cured in treacle, and comes from Suffolk. We feel that is allowed, as Andy’s children come from Suffolk, and bring it with them when they visit! It again was a clear winner in the taste tests, and a real favourite with all our friends, who quite often drop in for a bacon and egg sandwich at the weekend!
Jams and marmalades and curds are produced locally by Mel at Holly Cottage preserves, her lemon Curd and Lancashire Orange Marmalade is amazing.
Our other ingredients are all sourced from local organic products wherever possible.
